Raymond Kursar has received great critical acclaim spanning four decades career in Illustrative arts and has been widely published. The painter created art masterpieces in a variety of art venues. Early in his career Kursar achieved great success in the editorial & publishing arts. His illustrations appeared in nearly every leading magazine of our time: artwork for Ladies Home Journal, Good Housekeeping Magazine, Readers Digest, National Lampoon Magazine, etc. The Artist illustrated hundreds of romance novel covers for book publishers such as Bantam Books, Ace Books, Random House and Pocket books & Zebra Books, Avon, Fawcett, Ballantine, Doubleday, Charles Scribner & Sons. Raymond Kursar illustrated posters for “Shakespeare in the Park” and the Artist created Events Poster Art for numerous Broadway Plays including “Grease”, “Hello Dolly”, “City Of Angles”, “The Good Doctor”, “That Championship Season”, and “Legend”. These wonderful posters were displayed for the great Broadway Theaters of New York.
Raymond Kursar was commissioned to do artwork for giants in the entertainment industry including Joseph Papp & Neil Simon also commissioned by special request to create album covers for classical Guitarist Andre Segovia, and The Great Jazz musician Louis Armstrong. Raymond Kursar created special art pieces for producer Joseph Papp and writer Neil Simon. The Artist was commissioned to paint Magician Harry Blackstone poster art for his celebrated magic show. Raymond Kursar also illustrated art for “Big Apple Circus” and the “Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus”. All Raymond Kursar poster art pieces created great excitement for so many of the greatest shows on earth! This famous American Artist was also commissioned by the Knowles China Plate Company to illustrate on fine china the movie classic “Gone with the Wind”. This award winning Collector’s Plate series won international acclaim and was one the Artist’s favorite work. Raymond Kursar collector plate art is currently housed by the Bradford Exchange “Museum of Collectors Plates” in Niles, Illinois and his “Collector’s Edition” of Giclee prints are featured in the “Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum” in Marietta, GA.
